Privacy policy

This notice describes how personal data is processed for visitors of imboschiamoci.it and users of the app.imboschiamoci.it web app, under articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). In case of any discrepancy, the Italian version of this notice prevails.

What we collect and why

Web app account

Creating an account requires your name, email address and a password, which is only ever stored in encrypted form. We also record when you accepted this notice. The data lets you sign in and see your own reports and identifications. Legal basis: performance of the service you requested (art. 6.1.b GDPR).

Wildfire and wildlife damage reports

When you send a report we collect the text you write, any photos you attach, your position if you choose to capture it or the address if you type one, and the email and phone number you optionally leave so we can get back to you. The report is forwarded by email to the local officer in charge of handling it. Legal basis: the consent you give by submitting the form (art. 6.1.a GDPR) and the public interest in protecting the territory (art. 6.1.e GDPR). You can file a report without leaving any contact details.

Plant and animal identification

If you use the identification feature, the photo you upload is sent to the artificial intelligence service of Anthropic PBC, based in the United States, which returns the identified species. The photo and the outcome stay on our systems for at most 30 days and are then deleted automatically. Please do not upload photographs showing identifiable people. Legal basis: the consent you give by uploading the photo (art. 6.1.a GDPR). Usage statistics

Where enabled, and only after you consent through the banner, we use aggregated traffic statistics to understand which content is being read. No measurement tool is loaded without your consent. Legal basis: consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR). Details in the cookie policy.

Technical browsing data

The systems hosting the platform record IP address, date and time of the request and browser type. This data is necessary to operate and secure the service and is kept for [TO BE COMPLETED: log retention period]. Legal basis: legitimate interest in the security of the service (art. 6.1.f GDPR).

How long we keep the data

  • Identification photos and outcomes: 30 days, deleted automatically.

Who receives the data

Data is handled by the controller's authorised staff and may be shared with: the provider hosting the platform; the local officer receiving the reports; Anthropic PBC for the identification feature only; the statistics provider, if you consented. No data is sold or shared for commercial or advertising purposes.

Your rights

You may at any time request access to your data, its rectification or erasure, the restriction of processing, data portability, and you may object to the processing (arts. 15-22 GDPR). Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
